ARTIST BIO

Sam Platz is a sculpture and ceramics artist from Topeka Kansas. She graduated from Washburn University
in 2019 with a BFA in fine arts. She was a studio assistant for Monette Mark at Fire me up Ceramics from
2019 to 2020. Her earlier works are based around the trauma she faced as a child at the hands of her
Father and Step mother while her more current work is more about finding her style in clay. She is currently
experimenting with what she likes and doesn't like when it comes to the pottery art form. While finding her
stride Sam got best emerging 3-D artist at the 2024 Aaron Douglas art fair.
